ASSESSMENT AND EXAMINATIONS
Assessment is based on Waterpark criteria which are presented to students when they commence study. Assessment is monitored by the board of examiners.
Terminal examinations are conducted for each of the theory and practical modules in each programme. Terminal examinations are not conducted for classroom practice module. Terminal examinations are only conducted for stepping stones units if the unit is the concluding unit of a theory or practical module.
Examinations are monitored by an international board of external examiners.
Waterpark Montessori will not publish grades and will not use differing categories of award. Ongoing assessment awards Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory.
There is a 60% Satisfactory level required in all theory course work and examinations. There is an 80% Satisfactory level required in all practical course work and examinations, except the making of materials for the classroom where there is a 100% criteria. There is an 80% attendance criteria for practical classes and theory online study, and 100% attendance criteria for classroom practice hours. A diploma cannot be issued unless all elements are satisfactory.
AWARDS back to top
For each stepping stone, module and special option programme, successfully completed Waterpark Montessori will issue a letter giving details of what has been completed. Diplomas will not be issued for modules.
When a student has completed the required number of modules Waterpark Montessori will issue a diploma.
The diploma issued will state:
This is to certify that the Montessori Diploma for children….(for example 3-6 years - Pre-school) has been awarded to
XXXX
who has completed the theoretical and practical elements of the course and satisfied the board of examiners on all assessment, classroom practice and examination requirements
DIPLOMA back to top
Waterpark does not recognise that a student is a qualified Montessori teacher until all four modules are fully completed. Waterpark suggests that students do not call themselves a Montessori teacher until they have received the diploma. It will help parents and others to understand the importance of Montessori training if qualified Montessori teachers display their diplomas.
